SMS Terms & Conditions

These terms govern your use of Best Edit's SMS messaging service, including our tip line and community interview line.

NewsHound is a product of Best-Edit, a division of Monumental Stories LLC. The SMS program described in these terms — NewsHound Tips & Interviews — is operated by Monumental Stories LLC, and messages are sent from (708) 501-6397. The ways you can opt in are described on our SMS Opt-In page.

Program description

Best Edit, through its NewsHound program, operates an SMS service for community reporting, source interviews, and tip-line follow-up. By opting in, you may receive:

• Replies to tips, story leads, or feedback you send us
• Questions related to a scheduled community interview you agreed to participate in
• Interview scheduling, confirmation, and follow-up messages
• Service messages, including HELP, STOP, and opt-out confirmations

Carriers

This program is available on major U.S. carriers, including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, Boost, Cricket, MetroPCS, and other participating carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

How to opt in

You can opt in by:

• Texting our number
• Submitting your phone number on our website with an unchecked SMS consent checkbox
• Replying to a scheduled interview SMS confirming your participation

Each method is described in full, with the exact consent language we use, on our SMS Opt-In page. We never buy, rent, or import numbers from third-party lists.

By opting in, you agree to receive recurring automated SMS messages from us. Consent is not required as a condition of any purchase.

Message frequency

Message frequency varies. You may receive between 1 and 10 messages per week depending on news activity and your participation in an interview.

Cost

Message and data rates may apply. Your mobile carrier may charge you for sending or receiving text messages. Check with your carrier for details. Neither Best Edit nor NewsHound charges any fee for these messages.

Opt out — STOP

You can cancel the SMS service at any time. Reply STOP to any message you receive from us. After you send STOP, you will receive one final confirmation message and will not receive any further messages from that campaign. If you want to rejoin, sign up the same way you did originally. You can also reply CANCEL, END, QUIT, UNSUBSCRIBE, or STOPALL to opt out.

Help — HELP

If you need help or have questions, reply HELP to any message you receive from us, or email support@best-edit.com. You will receive a reply with customer care information.

Privacy

Use of this SMS program is also governed by our SMS Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All SMS opt-in data and message content stays with Best Edit and Monumental Stories LLC, together with the service providers required to deliver the messages.

Recording disclosure (voice/interview calls only)

If you call our tip line or interview line, your call may be recorded for the purpose of producing news stories. You will be informed of recording at the start of the call. If you do not consent to being recorded, you may hang up and contact us through our website or email instead.

Modifications

We may modify or terminate the SMS service or these terms at any time, with or without notice. We will use reasonable efforts to notify you of material changes before they take effect.

Disclaimers

THE SMS SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS-IS" AND "AS-AVAILABLE" BASIS. WE MAKE NO WARRANTY THAT MESSAGES WILL BE DELIVERED ON TIME, WITHOUT ERROR, OR AT ALL. CARRIERS ARE NOT LIABLE FOR DELAYED OR UNDELIVERED MESSAGES.
